The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that is ravaging the world is caused by infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS- CoV- 2). The dominant features of COVID- 19 are fever, respiratory and gastro intestinal; however, it is also known to cause neurological complications. Even early in the pandemic thrombotic complications associated with COVID- 19 were recognised including COVID- 19 associated acute ischemic strokes (AIS).
